Driver negligence was to blame in both of the accidents that landed a South Florida man in the hospital this week. The man sustained an extremely serious personal injury after he was struck by a third vehicle, following a two-car accident on I-95. In the initial accident, 49-year-old Gerald Jules was rear-ended by a car. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the two vehicles involved in the collision were stopped on the road, and Jules was standing near the car that had rear-ended him when a third car was unable to stop before hitting Jules and causing the car from the first accident to be pushed underneath Jules’ van. The Highway Patrol indicated that the driver who caused the first collision was not using due care, and the driver who caused injury to Jules was guilty of careless driving.…

Rescue workers in South Florida resorted to the “jaws of life” this past week in order to extricate a man from his vehicle after it was hit by a Broward County bus. The accident occurred in Fort Lauderdale and resulted in serious injury to the trapped man. It took the better part of the afternoon for firefighters to cut away half of the man’s car. Once they were able to free the gentleman, he was rushed to a nearby hospital under trauma alert. Four other people were on the bus at the time of the accident. Though it was unclear if any sustained an injury, they all denied treatment, according to a spokesperson for the Fort Lauderdale Fire Department.…
