South Florida Maritime, Admiralty and Personal Injury Attorney

In addition to the hard work and dedication required to successfully help clients recover compensation for their injuries, Mr. Murphey believes in practicing law with energy and enthusiasm. He makes sure that his clients know what to expect out of the legal system, including contingencies and complications that can possibly arise in more complex personal injury cases. He is a strong advocate for injured clients throughout South Florida, and he takes the responsibility of recovering financial compensation for those clients seriously in every case.

Mr. Murphey was born in Montgomery, Alabama in 1971. Before entering college, he served in the United States Army Infantry where he earned, among other things, his airborne wings and had the honor of serving as a sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

He earned his A.A. summa cum laude from Miami-Dade Community College in 1999 and his B.A. from Florida International University magna cum laude in 2002 and was graduated Phi Beta Kappa. In 2006, Mr. Murphey earned his law degree cum laude from Nova Southeastern University. There, he was an articles editor for the Nova Law Review and served on the Moot Court Executive Board.

His practice areas include maritime claims, personal injury, professional malpractice, civil appeals, and labor disputes. Mr. Murphey has represented clients before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, Florida’s First, Second, Third, and Fourth District Courts of Appeal, the Social Security Administration Office of Hearings and Appeals, the United States Department of Labor, Florida’s Division of Administrative Hearings, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and numerous other state and federal courts.

Mr. Murphey is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Federal and Eleventh Circuits, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida, and all Florida Courts.

Ben Murphey Provides Zealous and Aggressive Legal Advocacy for Clients Injured in South Florida

When a client suffers a serious injury in an accident, whether at sea or on land, the stakes are high for them both physically and financially. Medical treatment is unfortunately expensive and also absolutely necessary to increase the likelihood of the best physical outcome possible—and many injured parties simply cannot afford the cost of treatment without risking financial devastation. Mr. Murphey, therefore, takes an aggressive approach to recover monetary compensation to account for every dollar that an injury costs in every case.

Complex legal battles—whether inside or outside the courtroom—require equally complex and strong legal strategies. Insurance companies fight tooth and nail to prevent clients from getting the compensation they need to pay their medical bills and move forward with their lives. Mr. Murphey believes in fighting back to make sure his injured clients are protected financially so that they have the best possible chance of a full physical recovery.

What Clients Can Expect in Selecting Ben Murphey to Advocate on Their Behalf Through the Personal Injury Recovery Process

Although an aggressive approach to the practice of law does not always mean the client should expect to end up in court, clients can expect that Mr. Murphey will not back down in his fight to protect their legal right to compensation. Clients should also expect that Mr. Murphey’s adversaries in the South Florida legal community are well apprised of his approach to protecting client rights, which tends to work in his favor. Mr. Murphey’s approach to legal advocacy entails, at a minimum:

  • Fully investigating every case to uncover all available evidence,
  • Consulting with experts at the forefront of their fields to strengthen the client’s case for recovery,
  • Thoroughly researching the applicable law to formulate an aggressive recovery strategy,
  • Negotiating vigorously with the defendant parties to maximize the client’s potential recovery,
  • Handling every aspect of the legal recovery process,
  • Zealously advocating on the client’s behalf before a judge or jury if necessary.

In short, Mr. Murphey leaves no stone unturned in his fight to recover maximum compensation for injured clients who may be unfamiliar with the legal system.

Attorney Murphey’s Motivation for Practicing Law

When a defendant party knows that the injured party is likely to settle for less than the full case value, that party is unlikely to negotiate fairly to reach a reasonable settlement agreement. Mr. Murphey believes that this is patently unfair. Clients injured through no fault of their own have the right to be fully compensated for the defendant’s negligent or reckless actions. Mr. Murphey was motivated to practice various forms of personal injury law because of his desire to level the playing field for injured clients who can suffer lasting consequences because they do not have the resources necessary to advocate strongly on their own behalf.

Pursuing a claim for compensation against parties with deep pockets—including insurance companies—can be a lengthy process that requires initial monetary expenditures that many clients simply do not have available, especially when considering the financial expense of the physical recovery in and of itself. Mr. Murphey chose to practice law so that he could be an advocate for those unable to protect their own rights while their focus is dedicated to recovering physically from an injury.
